Police identify pedestrian struck by car

Norwich — Police have identified the woman struck by a car Thursday in the area of Harland Road and Harland Heights as 55-year-old Kathleen Maynard of Norwich.

Police said Maynard was walking south on Harland Road when she was struck by a Ford Taurus driven by 58-year-old Stephanie Hlastava, of Lisbon, who was driving south on Harland Road. The accident was reported at about 2:15 p.m.

Maynard was taken to The William W. Backus Hospital by American Ambulance and was later transported by Life Star helicopter to Hartford Hospital, where she remained Friday afternoon in critical condition. Hlastava was not injured.
