Groton man charged with stealing items from unlocked cars
Groton — City police on Monday arrested a 34-year-old man who they say was stealing items from unlocked cars on Grove Avenue around 6:25 p.m.
With the help of Groton Town police, a state police K-9 unit and with information they received from a citizen, police tracked Bryan J. Chartier down in the vicinity of South Pleasant Valley Road and Walker Hill Road.
Chartier, of 99 Grove Ave., was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary and two counts of sixth-degree larceny. Chartier had with him items stolen from two cars reported to have been broken into, police said.
Chartier was held in lieu of a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court today.
