    UPDATED: Power restored after crash closes portion of North Main Street in Norwich

    Norwich – A one-car crash involving a utility pole has closed a portion of North Main Street, at Central Avenue.

    Norwich police were called to the scene shortly after 3 p.m. for reports of an accident with power lines down across the roadway. Police responded with medical personnel from American Ambulance. Crews from Norwich Public Utilities also were called.

    NPU spokesman Mike Hughes said an estimated 800 NPU customers in the Greeneville section of the city were without power due to the damage to the utility pole. All power was restored shortly before 5 p.m. The road remained closed at 5:30 p.m. while repair work continued on the utility pole.
