    State police seek suspect in attempted robbery at Mohegan Sun hotel

    The Connecticut State Police released this surveillance camera video image of the man they say is a suspect in the Saturday, March 9, 2013, casino hotel attempted robbery.

    Mohegan – State police are searching for a male suspect in an attempted armed robbery that occurred at 6 a.m. today on the 19th floor of the Mohegan Sun hotel.

    State Police Lt. Paul Vance said a male victim told police that he was assaulted by a man after the two exited the elevator on the 19th floor. The victim reported that he was struck from behind on the head as he walked toward his hotel room. He said he was struck again on the head and in the face by the handle of a dark colored semi-automatic handgun the suspect displayed.

    The victim added that the suspect demanded the money and then proceeded to hit him with the weapon in the head and face and then fled back into the elevator. Police said the victim received minor injuries and refused medical treatment.

    The victim said the suspect entered the hotel elevator along with him in the hotel lobby and the suspect exited with the victim on the 19th floor.

    Troopers determined that the suspect after the assault/robbery exited the elevator in the lobby of the hotel and ran on foot from the casino.

    The suspect is described as a white male 6 feet tall, thin build, wearing a black jacket and jeans.

    A State Police K-9 team tracked the suspect from the hotel but the track ended along the Thames River near Shipping Street in Norwich, north of the casino.

    State Police detectives are continuing the investigation and following evidence and leads.
