Man charged with trespassing near Taylor Swift's Watch Hill mansion

Westerly - A 22-year-old Chicago man was arrested for trespassing early Wednesday on a private road near the new $17.7 million home of country superstar Taylor Swift.

Westerly police said the man was arrested for trespassing at 2:15 a.m. after he was spotted on the private Lighthouse Road by a patrol officer conducting a security check of the Watch Hill Lighthouse.

When asked what he was doing, police said Lucas H. Vorsteveld said he was out for a walk. Police said he was taken to police headquarters where he processed and later released on a summons to appear May 24 in Fourth Division District Court.

Westerly Police Capt. Shawn Lacey said the arrest caused a media storm spurred by a report of the arrest on TMZ and some media reports about a fanatic fan swimming to the area. The police station was inundated with media calls.

Lacey said there was no indication the man was on Swift’s Bluff Road property, which is protected by private security, but it remains unclear what he was doing in the area.
