Montville - An Uncasville man was killed in an early morning accident that occurred in front of the Troop E barracks on Interstate 395 north.

Police said that Randal Jacques, 43, of 27 Virginia Court was riding his 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle in the left lane when it veered off the roadway and struck the center median guardrail.

Jacques was taken to the William W. Backus Hospital, where he died during surgery, police said.

Police said he was not wearing a helmet.

The highway in that area was closed for two hours after the 7:15 a.m. accident  as police investigated. Cars were detoured through the barrack's parking lot.
