Montville - A multi-car accident on Interstate 395 North between Exit 79 and the police barracks, combined with road work in the area, is causing heavy traffic on the highway, police said.

The accident occurred at 8:54 p.m., according to police. The accident involved about five cars and resulted in minor injuries, police said.

Roads are open, but travelers should expect delays.

The state Department of Transportation is conducting road work until 6 a.m. Thursday on 7.5 miles of I-395 North, between Exits 79 and 81W. The right lane is closed, according to the DOT website.
