Groton — The town's animal control officer is looking for the rightful owner of a rat snake that was found Wednesday evening on Georgia Street.
Animal Control Officer Donna Duso said that the domestic snake, who is the family of the corn snake, was found in a tree. She said the reptile is about 2 feet long and most likely escaped from a home.
She said she will post a lost and found advertisement in the hopes that someone will claim the reptile. Duso is required to hold the snake for seven days before it can be put up for adoption.
Anyone who may know who the snake belongs to may call Animal Control at (860) 441-6709.
