Man who fled police in Norwich caught in Rhode Island

Glocester, R.I. – Police in Rhode Island have taken into custody a Hartford man who led police on a multi-town chase Thursday morning that started in Norwich and was picked up by state police in Windham County.

Glocester, R.I., police officers apprehended Jose Cordero, 28, and plan to hold him overnight until his arraignment in court Friday as a fugitive from justice.

Glocester Police Chief Joseph DelPrete said officers located Cordero and his heavily damaged vehicle in the area of George Allen and Stone Dam roads. Authorities in Connecticut had broadcast a description of Cordero's vehicle, which was last spotted by Connecticut state police headed east on Route 101 in Foster, R.I., just past the Connecticut border.

Norwich police declined to discuss any pending charges against Cordero. State police said they will be preparing their own arrest warrant based on the fact that Cordero had engaged officers in pursuit and caused several accidents along the way.
