New Hampshire woman dies in Griswold tractor-trailer crash

Griswold — A New Hampshire woman died Tuesday morning from injuries suffered in a crash that state police said occurred when her vehicle was broadsided by a tractor-trailer.

Joanne M. Gulmond, 75, of Seabrook, N.H., was a passenger in a Ford Taurus driven by 73-year-old Roland Gulmond that was struck by a tractor-trailer after police said the Taurus failed to stop at a red light at the intersection of Route 138 and the Exit 85 northbound access road from Interstate 395.

The crash happened at 10:30 a.m. and closed Route 138 and the access road until shortly after 3 p.m.

The tractor-trailer, driven by 52-year-old Robert Paige of Hilton, N.Y., was traveling west on Route 138 when it struck the passenger side of Gulmond’s northbound vehicle as it drove through the red light from the access road, police said.

The impact caused the fatal injury to Joanne Gulmond, who was in the passenger seat. Roland Gulmond was taken to The William W. Backus Hospital by Griswold Ambulance for treatment of a head injury. All were wearing seat belts.

Police said Paige was not injured and was cooperative during the investigation.
