Police: Man forces way into Norwich home, assaults ex-girlfriend

    Kendall O. Smith

Norwich — A Bloomfield man was arrested Tuesday evening after police said he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home Monday and assaulted her.

Kendall Smith, 26, was arrested on a warrant that charges him with home invasion, two counts of risk of injury to a minor, third-degree assault, first-degree unlawful restraint, sixth-degree larceny, third-degree robbery and third-degree burglary.

Police said they responded to a domestic disturbance at a local residence, where they learned that Smith had forced his way into the woman’s home and assaulted her. He took her cellphone away so she could not call for help, police said.

Police said Smith fled the area prior to their arrival. Two juveniles were present at the time of the incident.

The victim suffered minor injuries, police said.

Smith posted a $100,000 bond and was scheduled to appear Wednesday in Norwich Superior Court.
