Groton - Eighty-two homes in the Midway Oval area are without water while Groton Utilities repairs a water main break, Groton Utilities Manager Ray Valentini said.

Service should be restored in two hours or three at the latest, he said this evening.

Valentini said the utility was contacted at noon about water in the road, and the water was shut off to the homes at about 3 p.m.

Workers found the break in an 8-inch main and are fixing it, he said. He said residents may notice some brown water temporarily when the service is restored, but he said the water is safe to drink.
