An Uncasville man was listed in critical condition at Hartford Hospital Saturday evening following an automobile accident Friday on Route 2 in Norwich near the Exit 29 off-ramp.

Matthew Frechette, 30, sustained "incapacitating injury," according to a police report, when the Jeep Wrangler he was driving went off the roadway and struck a fixed object.

Frechette was taken Friday to The William W. Backus Hospital, which reported that he had later been sent to Hartford Hospital.

Frechette reported having a medical emergency shortly before the crash, according to the police report. No details of his injuries were available.
