    New London man charged in connection with October assault

    New London — Police have arrested a New London man who they say was allegedly involved in a robbery and assault that occurred in the area of Hempstead Street in early October.

    Police said they had an arrest warrant for Emilio Rodriguez, who was not found until Tuesday, when he was seen walking in the area of Broad and Williams streets. He was placed under arrest and found in possession of about 4 grams of heroin and $599.

    Police said the victim in the assault was hospitalized at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital with head and facial injuries.

    Rodriguez, 20, of 15 Terrace Ave. was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, sixth-degree larceny, possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, and possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school.

    Rodriguez was held in lieu of a $60,000 cash/surety bond.
