Willimantic man arrested after engaging police in pursuit

Norwich — A Willimantic man was arrested early Saturday after leading officers in a pursuit through downtown Norwich.

Norwich police said they attempted to pull over Quenton Rosario when they noticed him driving the wrong way without headlights on in the early morning. Rosario then allegedly led the marked cruiser on a pursuit through the downtown and Greeneville sections of Norwich, ending at the cul-de-sac of Sandy Lane.

When Rosario reached the cul-de-sac, police said, he intentionally rammed a marked Norwich police cruiser. After a brief struggle with officers, Rosario was taken into custody, police said.

Rosario was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and driving with a suspended license. Police also found that he had been reported missing from Manchester.

Rosario admitted to stealing the vehicle he had been driving from a residence in Willimantic, police said, though it is unclear whether he was charged for the theft.
