Boy hit by car in Norwich, woman charged

Norwich — Police have charged a 54-year-old woman in connection with a hit-and-run Friday evening that resulted in injuries to a 10-year-old boy.

Police said they received a 911 call at 6:47 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian who had been hit by a vehicle on Norwich Avenue in Taftville, in the area of Dairy Queen.

Taftville firefighters responded with Norwich police, who discovered the vehicle involved had left the scene. The boy, who was initially unconscious, was taken by ambulance to The William W. Backus Hospital with what police described as injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

Police later found the driver of the SUV involved in the accident on Hunters Avenue. Theresa L. Morgan, of 71 Taftville Occum Road, was charged with evading responsibility. She was released on a $2,500 bond and will be arraigned March 11 in Norwich Superior Court.
