Police say 150 bags of heroin seized during Norwich arrest
Norwich – State and local police on Wednesday arrested an East Hartford man they say was in possession of 150 bags of heroin when he was stopped in Norwich.
David Colon, also known as Diamond Dave, was charged with possession of heroin and possession of heroin with intent to sell.
At 11:30 a.m. Wednesday Norwich police, assisted by members of the Statewide Narcotics East Office and the Troop D Quality of Life Task Force, stopped a vehicle on Otrobando Avenue in Norwich for a traffic violation.
During the course of the stop, a drug-sniffing police dog named Albert alerted to Colon as possibly being in possession of narcotics, police said. Police said the dog was correct and they discovered 150 large baggies of heroin that were pre-packaged for street level sales with an estimated street value of about $3,000. Police also seized $593.
Colon was held in lieu of a $100,000 bond and due to appear March 26 in Norwich Superior Court.
