Groton man charged with possession of child pornography

Groton - A Groton man was arrested Thursday after state police said he was in possession of child pornography.

James Demay, 27, of 25 Broad St. Extension, Apt. B3-2, was charged with first-degree illegal possession of child pornography.

The state police Computer Crimes Unit began an investigation of Demay back in October 2013, when they received information about child pornography sharing over the Internet. Police said the activity was traced back to a Demay's apartment.

In January, the Computer Crimes Unit with the assistance of Groton City police executed a search and seizure warrant at the apartment. Police said they subsequently found suspected child pornography on Demay's computer.

Demay was held in lieu of a $250,000 bond pending his arraignment Thursday in New London Superior Court.
