Ledyard — The local chapter of the American Red Cross said they are helping a family of four — two adults and two children — with emergency clothing and food needs after a fire Monday afternoon at 15 Chapman Lane in Gales Ferry.

The Red Cross said in a statement they are als providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items the family might not have been able to salvage from the burned structure.

The cause of the fire, which heavily damaged the home and displaced the residents, remains under investigation.
