New London — City police were investigating an apparent armed robbery Wednesday evening at the Galaxy Convenience Store at 121 Montauk Ave., at the corner of Orchard Street.

Several witnesses at the scene reported to police that the suspects wore masks and carried firearms. An ambulance arrived at the store shortly before 10 p.m. and police were cordoning off the store with yellow crime scene tape.

Police did not release any information about the incident late Wednesday.
