Stonington -- Power was knocked out in a small section of Pawcatuck after a car driven by a woman struck a utility pole on Liberty Street just before 7 a.m. Sunday.
Police said Teresa Bynum, 49, of 16 Downer St., Pawcatuck, escaped injury in the 6:59 a.m crash at the intersection of Marie Avenue. They said she was also lucky not to have been injured when she exited the car with downed power lines around her.
As of 5 p.m., 150 customers were without power as an Eversource crew repaired the damaged pole. Police said they charged Bynum with driving with a suspended license.
