Norwich police searching for man who allegedly shot at officer

Norwich — State and local police have joined in a search for at least one person who reportedly shot at a Norwich police officer.

    No injuries were reported.

At 9:30 p.m. Saturday police had set up a perimeter and called in a K-9 team in the wooded area near the bridge crossing the Shetucket River from the Occum section of Norwich into the Versailles section of Sprague, according to Norwich Police Sgt. Patrick McKinney.

McKinney said the shooting incident occurred in the area of Harry’s Occum Market at 1 Bridge St., where an officer had reported a man with a gun. At some point there was a foot pursuit and a report of shots fired, he said.

No one was reported to be hit.
