NFA responding to social media post

Norwich — Norwich Free Academy campus safety officials and city police have responded to a social media posting Wednesday that has been traced to a student in Bend, Ore.

The school's Campus Safety Department issued a notification Thursday morning stating that the posting, which read “Dont {sic} go to school,” was being taken seriously. Bend police have identified the student who posted the message and have spoken to the student's mother.

“Norwich Police and NFA campus safety have spoken with and are actively working with the police and school administration in Bend, Oregon,” the NFA campus safety notification sent Thursday morning said.

“Please continue to assist us by talking with your children about internet safety and about using good judgment in the language, images and ideas they share on social media,” the statement concluded.

Comment threads are monitored for 48 hours after publication and then closed.
