Police make 2 more arrests in New Year’s Day knife fight at Foxwoods

Mashantucket — Police have charged two 17-year-olds in connection with a New Year’s Day knife fight at Foxwoods Resort Casino, making the total number of arrests 10 and counting.

One teenager was charged Feb. 21 with breach of peace, the other with criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault.

While the arrest summary shows each teen was held on bond and due in court Feb. 22, further information wasn’t available. Most juvenile cases in Connecticut are confidential.

Police said the large fight began in the Fox Tower Garage shortly after 1 a.m. and spilled into the casino near the Centrale Bar. Three people were stabbed, including one who was in critical condition at Hartford Hospital from two stab wounds to the abdomen, police said.

Police arrested five people on the day of the fight, then used surveillance video and help from area officers to identify others who appeared to be involved.

Tribal police Capt. George Potts said police “expect to make more arrests shortly.”
