Grasso Tech student charged with assaulting police officer
Groton – Police arrested an 18-year-old student at Ella T. Grasso Southeastern Technical High School on Monday on charges she assaulted a police officer at the school.
Francesca Mirlas of 232 Laurel Drive, New London, was charged with interfering with a police officer, assault on a police officer and second-degree breach of peace.
On Monday morning, state police said Mirlas was escorted to the main office at the school by a school resource officer because of her “non-compliant behavior when being given verbal direction.”
Police said Mirlas was “physically assisted,” into a chair and unprovoked threw several punches at the resource officer, who is a police officer. Mirlas was subdued and taken to the ground, police said. Mirlas was held on a $5,000 bond.
