Groton — City police arrested a local woman Sunday night after they say she shot her husband in the lower right leg during an argument.

Heather Dugas, 46, of 76 Eastwood Road, was charged with first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, unlawful discharge of a firearm and disorderly conduct. She was being held Monday on a $150,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court on Tuesday.

Polcie said that at 9:47 p.m. they received a call from Dugas saying she shot her husband in the leg. When police arrived at her house, they said she was waiting outside unarmed. Police found her husband lying on the kitchen floor. He was brought to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital.

Police said they recovered the gun used in the shooting as well as numerous other firearms, high-capacity magazines and ammunition.
