Man shot in Norwich, second in three days

Norwich ― Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting of a 23-year-old man who showed up at the William W. Backus Hospital early Tuesday with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Police said the victim would not provide investigators with the location of where he was shot or specific details about the incident. All he would say is that the perpetrator fled the area after the shooting.

Norwich police did not receive any reports of gunshots around time of the shooting. Police said in a statement that the incident does not appear to be a random act and there does not appear to be any immediate threat to the public.

The shooting comes just three days after a shooting in the area of 51 Division St. that left a 31-year-old man, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, in critical condition. Police have not yet released any further details on that shooting.

Police are asking anyone with information about Tuesday’s shooting to contact police at 860-886-5561, ext. 3199 or the anonymous tip line at 860-886-5561, ext. 4.
