    Montville officer injured in crash

Montville ― A Montville police officer suffered minor injures when her cruiser struck a utility pole early Thursday.

The accident occurred at 2:18 a.m. in the area of 941 Old Colchester Road, state police said in an accident summary.

A Montville Police Department Ford Explorer driven by 29-year-old Lindsey Michaels was traveling south on Old Colchester Road, just north of Black Ash Road, when the vehicle drifted into the right shoulder and struck a utility pole, police said.

The vehicle rolled onto its left side while traveling up the pole where its wheels became entangled in the lines, police said. The vehicle landed on its right side before coming to a rest in the southbound shoulder.

Police said Michaels was taken by Montville Ambulance to The William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich where she was treated and released. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
