    Norwich man seriously injured in Killingly crash

    A 41-year-old Norwich man was seriously injured in a crash in Killingly around 9:25 p.m. on Friday, according to state police.

    An accident report said he was driving west in a Ford Ranger on Route 101 and making a left turn into Smoker’s Discount World ― which is connected to a Sam’s Food Stores at a Gulf gas station ― when an Audi driving east hit him head-on.

    The Norwich man was taken to Day Kimball Healthcare in Putnam for serious injuries and then taken via LifeStar helicopter to Hartford Hospital for further evaluation, police said. The other driver was taken to Day Kimball for suspected minor injuries.

    The accident report indicated there were no passengers in either vehicle. Police said the accident remains under investigation.
