    Groton man faces gun, drug charges in Waterford

    Waterford ― A Groton man is facing a host of drug and weapons charges linked to a drug trafficking investigation.

    Zachary Larochelle, 32, was arrested by Waterford police on Monday following an investigation that started after a motor vehicle crash in January. On Jan. 22, police had responded to a motor vehicle crash on Route 85. In one of the vehicles, police said they found a firearm, several controlled substances, drug paraphernalia and other items police said was indicative of the sale of narcotics.

    The seized drugs included methamphetamine, cocaine, LSD, PCP, Suboxone, Alprazolam, Clonazepam, crack cocaine and fentanyl.

    Larochelle is charged with nine counts of possession of a controlled substance, nine counts possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, illegal manufacturing of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal possession of a firearm, weapon in a motor vehicle, possession of a firearm without a permit, possession of a firearm while intoxicated and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

    Court records show Larochelle, when served with the Waterford arrest warrant, was held on a court set $250,000 bond. Larochelle was already being in lieu of $200,000 in connection with a March 13 arrest by Middletown police. In Middletown, Larochelle faces drug sales and weapons charges.
