Amtrak train briefly stopped in Groton

An Amtrak train was stopped in Groton for about 30 minutes Saturday night “due to police activity near the tracks,” Amtrak posted on Twitter.

Amtrak then posted that the train was moving again, operating about 30 minutes late west of Mystic.

An Amtrak spokesperson told The Day that Amtrak does not comment on specific customer incidents.

“Amtrak is committed to ensuring the quality of travel and the safety and security of our customers and employees, and we may refuse to carry or remove passengers for disruptive behavior and other reasons outlined in our Terms and Conditions,” said Jen Flanagan, lead public relations specialist for Amtrak.

Flanagan said violators of Amtrak’s Terms and Conditions could be subject to a ban from Amtrak trains and criminal penalties and fines.

She said train service resumed soon after.

    No further information was available.
