UPDATED: Police identify woman killed in Groton crash

Groton ― Police on Saturday identified the female driver of an SUV who died in a crash on Route 184 early Friday night as Krystal L. Linski, 30, of 119 Lambtown Road in Mystic.

The two people whose pickup police said she hit on Route 184 were seriously injured, one critically, according to police.

Town Police said that at approximately 6:24 p.m., Groton Emergency Dispatch received several 911 calls about a two-car accident on Route 184 between Buddington Road and Gungywamp Road.

When they arrived, police said they found a Ford Explorer SUV and a Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck with heavy front-end damage. Linski, the driver of the Ford Explorer, was unconscious and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado pickup, Carolina Rose, 37, of 94 Silas Deane Road, Ledyard, and her 9-year-old daughter, were transported to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Police said Saturday that Rose is continuing to recover from her injuries. Her 9-year-old daughter was transported to Yale’s New Haven Children's Hospital where she is listed in critical condition in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

Police said their initial investigation shows Linski was eastbound on Route 184 east of Buddington Road when the SUV went off the road, hit a guardrail, traveled back onto the road and struck the westbound pickup.

Members of the Southeastern Connecticut Regional Traffic Unit went to the scene to assist in the investigation. The crash closed Route 184 between Buddington Road and Gungywamp Road as police investigated.

The Poquonnock Bridge Fire Department, three units from Groton Ambulance Association, and four L + M Hospital paramedics assisted the three victims.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has other information which would assist officers with the case, is asked to call Groton Town Police at 860-441-6712.
