    New London police say online school threats a hoax

    Two New London schools were among other schools targeted nationwide on Friday by a threat on social media that police said was a hoax.

    At 7:30 a.m., the online threat came to the attention of administrators at the city’s middle and high schools. New London Police Captain Matthew Galante said an investigation determined the threats to be an internet hoax that was circulating at other schools across the country.

    Galante said the threat was identical to the threat received in Martin County, Florida that read “MARK THE DATE 5/5/23 FRIDAY I WILL MAKE HISTORY AS THE TOP SCHOOL SLAUGHTER,” according to published reports.
