Updated: Ledyard woman in critical condition after one-car crash on I-95 in Groton
Groton ― A Ledyard woman was in critical condition Thursday following an early morning crash on Interstate 95 in Groton.
A Connecticut State Police crash summary said Joycelynn Green, 27, was taken to Hartford Hospital by Life Star helicopter after she was ejected from her car in the 5:46 a.m. crash. Green was in the front passenger seat of the 1999 Toyota Avalon traveling south on I-95 near the exit 88 off ramp when the car veered three lanes to the right and struck a rock in the right shoulder.
The driver, 23-year-old Caleb L. Mikeworth of Westerly, R.I., was treated for minor injuries at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital and released.
Two of three lanes in the area of the crash remained closed for several hours as state police continued to investigate the cause of the crash. The highway was completely closed at one point as emergency vehicles arrived at the crash.
