    Norwich experiences major power outage

Norwich ― Norwich experienced a major outage on Saturday night that left about 4,000 customers without power, according to Norwich Public Utilities.

The utility said on social media around 11 p.m. that the outage affected customers in the northeast section of the city.

In an update around 11:30 p.m., the utility said on Facebook that it had restored power to several hundred customers and is “cautiously optimistic” that it could restore power fully within the next three hours.

NPU said the outage “is the result of a technical/logistical communications issue between NPU’s Bean Hill Substation and the operators of the regional grid.”

NPU said it will have more information Sunday morning.
