    One person injured in New London shooting

    New London ― Gunfire erupted on Bank Street early Sunday, leaving a 24-year-old hospitalized with a gunshot wound, police said.

    The shooting was reported at about 12:45 a.m. in the area of 194 Bank St. Officers arrived to find shell casings and bullet particles in the roadway and sidewalk. Police also said a building and a motorcycle were hit by bullets. Several bullet holes were visible in the front window of Mambo Bar & Restaurant at 200 Bank St.

    During investigation, police said they learned a gunshot victim had been driven to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital by a second party prior to the arrival of police. Police declined to release the name of the victim. Police said the victim was transferred from L+M to Yale New Haven Hospital where he was listed in stable condition on Monday.

    No other injuries were reported and police said the shooting does not appear to be a random act.

    Police, in a statement released on Monday, said investigation into the shooting continued into Montville where a suspect’s vehicle was located. Police said further evidence associated with the New London shooting was found and seized in Montville.

    Police said no further information would be released at this time.
