A year-long investigation by the state police computer crimes unit led to the arrest Wednesday of a 37-year-old local man on child pornography possession charges.

Kyle Guerrette, of 639 Route 12, Groton, was charged with first-degree possession of child pornography and promoting a minor in an obscene performance. State police said their investigation started in December 2022 after files of suspected child pornography were discovered being shared from a residential internet account.

In March 2023, police said they served a search and seizure and identified Guerrette as the primary suspect. Police said an examination of a laptop seized from Guerrette found child pornography. Guerrette has been released on a $50,000 bond and is due to appear Dec. 18 in Hartford Superior Court.
