New London school bus involved in accident
New London ― An elementary school student was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure Wednesday afternoon following a school bus accident.
New London firefighters and police responded to the accident involving a truck and the school bus on Water Street, in front of the bus station, at about 3 p.m.
Fire Chief Thomas Curcio said the bus was carrying 53 kids for the New London school district. No serious injuries were reported but one passenger was taken to the hospital for an evaluation, he said.
Curcio said the students were safely transferred to a different bus with coordination from school officials.
Police did not immediately release any further details of the crash. The bus is owned by First Student.
