Norwich woman arrested after discharge of firearm

Norwich ― A Norwich woman faces multiple charges after she allegedly shot a gun in the direction of another person while police were investigating an unrelated protective order, police said.

Angela Velez-Vazquez, 21, of 90 North St., #5E, was charged at 10 a.m. Sunday with breach of peace, first-degree reckless endangerment, unlawful discharge of a firearm, second-degree threatening and criminal violation of a protective order. She was held on a $300,000 court-set bond and was arraigned in Norwich Superior Court Monday.

Police said they were responding to an unrelated protective order, which mandates the person not possess weapons, when Velez-Vazquez allegedly threatened to kill an acquaintance, and then later discharged a firearm in the person’s direction.
