New London police arrest teenage girl in Wednesday’s triple stabbing

New London ― Police on Thursday arrested a 16-year-old girl in connection with stabbing on Wednesday that left three victims with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

The suspect, who police do not identify because of her age, is charged with first-degree assault and expected to face more charges as the investigation continues, New London Police Capt. Matthew Galante said. Additional arrests have not been ruled out, Galante said.

The stabbing was reported at 2:29 p.m. on Wednesday and occurred at a residence on Connecticut Avenue. A knife was recovered at the scene. Police said the incident was not random and that the suspect knew the victims.

Police have not identified the stabbing victims but said they are ages 27, 29 and 35. All three victims were initially taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital for treatment. All were listed in stable condition on Thursday. Police did not say if the victims remain at L+M.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police at (860) 447-1481, or the anonymous 411 tip system by texting NLPDTip and the information to Tip411 (847411).
