    Parole check leads to multiple drug charges for Montville man

    Montville ― A local man is facing multiple drug charges after a compliance check conducted by local police and Norwich Parole officers.

    Troy McDermott, 46, of 300 Maple Ave., Apt. A, was charged Jan. 26 with use of drug paraphernalia, two counts of possession of narcotics with intent to sell and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

    Court records show he was convicted in January 2022 for sale of narcotics and was sentenced to four years in prison.

    During a search, police said they found McDermott in possession of 20 grams of crack cocaine, 5 grams of methamphetamine and 1 gram of fentanyl, along with packaging for street level sales. He was arrested on Maple Avenue, according to the police report.

    McDermott is being held on a $75,000 bond and is next scheduled to appear in Norwich Superior Court Feb. 26.
