Police say man wanted in car theft found parked outside Montville state police barracks

Montville ― State police arrested two people wanted in connection with a car theft this week, including one suspect found parked outside the state police barracks in Montville.

Police had been investigating Sunday’s theft of a green 2019 Subaru Forester from the Comfort Inn at 375 Voluntown Road in Griswold. The owner is an 81-year-old New London woman.

On Monday, Norwich police spotted the stolen car at a 7-Eleven in Norwich and notified state police who then took Ashley A. Williams, 32, of Brooklyn, the driver into custody. She was then taken to the state police barracks in Montville.

While Williams was being processed, state police said they noticed that the second suspect in the car theft, David S. Kruger, 42, of Voluntown, was parked in their lot. Police arrested Kruger.

Kruger and Williams were charged with theft of a motor vehicle and first-degree larceny. Williams was additionally charged with driving without a license. Williams was released on a $5,000 bond. Kruger was held on a $25,000 bond and was expected to appear Tuesday in Norwich Superior Court.
