Preston ― A fire on Sunday severely damaged a single-family home at 73 Schoolhouse Road, fire officials said.

Preston Fire Chief Kieth Wucik said the fire was reported by a neighbor at 7:55 p.m. No one was at home, he said.

Preston firefighters were assisted by firefighters from the Norwich, Mashantucket, Mohegan Tribal and Gales Ferry fire departments.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation but appears to be accidental, Wucik said.
