Salem man dies in Route 85 crash

Salem ― A crash on Route 85 Wednesday afternoon claimed the life of a 41-year-old local man.

State police said Michael Gould of 103 Horse Pond Road in Salem was traveling south on Route 85 at 4:23 p.m. when he made a left turn toward Horse Pond Road. Gould’s Chevrolet Equinox traveled into the path of a northbound Toyota Prius driven by Kevin Fall, 69, of Moodus. Police said the two vehicles collided in the northbound lane of Route 85.

Gould died from his injuries. Police said Fall was taken by ambulance to Backus Hospital in Norwich for treatment of his injuries.

Police ask anyone who witnessed the crash to contact state police Trooper Gregory DeCarli at Troop K in Colchester at (860) 465-5400.
