Norwich ― A Monday night fire severely damaged a two-bay garage and the vehicles inside but was stopped from spreading to a home at 46 Michele Dr.

The Yantic Fire Company was called to the home at about 9:20 p.m. and found heavy fire in the attached garage. The occupants of the home, who had called 911, had evacuated, fire officials said.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze within minutes and spent several hours at the home overhauling the garage and ensuring the fire had not extended into the home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Norwich Fire Marshal’s office. No injuries were reported. The City of Norwich Fire Department was among the other departments that assisted in extinguishing the fire.
