Groton woman faces drug charges after motel room raid

A Groton woman faces drug charges after a joint investigation by Norwich, Groton Town and state police resulted in a search and seizure raid Thursday of the woman’s room at the Flagship Inn & Suites.

Desiree Greene, 34, of 470 Gold Star Highway was charged with two counts of possession of narcotics with intent to sell, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. Greene was held on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwich Superior Court April 4.

Norwich police issued a news release Friday saying the arrest came after a lengthy investigation into narcotics activity in Norwich. Members of the Connecticut State Police Violent Crime Task Force East Office, Norwich police detectives and the Groton Town Police criminal investigations unit executed the search and seizure warrant Thursday at the Flagship Inn & Suites room. Police said they seized crack cocaine and fentanyl, but did not specify the quantities of the drugs seized.

No additional arrests are anticipated in connection with the investigation, Norwich police said.
