    Crash backs up traffic on I-95 in Old Lyme

    Old Lyme ―The northbound side Interstate 95 was congested this morning due to a crash involving a tractor trailer, the state Department of Transportation said.

    The crash, involving a tractor trailer and another vehicle, happened at 9:22 a.m. about 2 miles prior to Exit 71 (Four Mile River Road). One lane of the highway was closed because of the crash. The DOT said the crash scene was cleared by 9:54 a.m.

    The accident was the second reported on I-95 on Wednesday morning. At 6:15 a.m., the DOT reported a tractor trailer was involved in a crash on the northbound side of I-95 prior to Exit 85 in Groton. Two lanes of the highway were shut down.

    Further details on the crashes were not immediately available from state police. State police in Westbrook said minor injuries were reported in the Old Lyme crash.
