Montville police will be checking drivers’ sobriety Friday, Saturday

Montville ― The police department has said it will conduct sobriety checkpoints in various locations in town beginning Friday night.

The checks will take place between 5 p.m. Friday and 4 a.m. Saturday, and focus on “high traffic roadways,” such as Route 85, Route 32, Route 82 and Route 163, according to a news release from the department.

The department said the purpose of the checkpoints is to “further educate the motoring public,” and increase awareness of the need for detecting and removing drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs from the town’s roadways.
