    Crash leads to car fire in Preston

    Preston ― A woman escaped injury early Wednesday following a crash and car fire on Route 164.

    Preston Fire Chief Keith Wucik said the crash occurred at 2:15 a.m. when a vehicle traveled off the road and up an embankment on Route 164, at the intersection of Old North Road. The vehicle struck a guardrail and caught fire.

    Firefighters arrived to find the female driver out of her vehicle and the vehicle engulfed in flames. The woman was not injured. Route 164 was temporarily closed while firefighters extinguished the fire.

    State police are investigating the cause of the crash.
