New London man arrested after fleeing from police in stolen truck loaded with lobster pots

New London ― A 32-year-old New London man faces multiple criminal charges after police said he stole a truck loaded with lobster pots and then was involved in two hit-and-run crashes on Wednesday.

Lindsey Brown of 851 Bank St. was first spotted by a state trooper on Wednesday morning on the Gold Star Memorial Bridge. Police said he was operating a box truck loaded with yellow lobster pots reported stolen out of Narragansett, R.I., and involved in two separate crashes that morning, including one in Groton.

Brown, police said, exited Interstate 95 and drove into New London where he drove off after a traffic stop by state and New London police. The pursuit of the stolen truck ended when police said Brown crashed into an unoccupied parked vehicle. He was arrested after a short foot chase.

Brown is charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, driving with a suspended license, engaging police in pursuit, evading responsibility, failure to drive in the proper lane, failure to obey a stop sign and interfering with police.

Brown was due to be arraigned Thursday in New London Superior Court.
